Flu season arrives with new challenges in 2020 as communities across the U.S. continue to fight the spread of COVID-19. To keep our neighbors healthier throughout this flu season, AdhereRx has launched a mobile flu clinic program to ensure that employers near our pharmacy locations in the Triangle region of North Carolina and the Phoenix metro area can safely offer flu shots to their employees.
Employers have been especially hard-hit by the complications of keeping business up and running while ensuring employees are safe and socially distant during the pandemic. Offering easy, safe access to flu vaccination through an AdhereRx mobile flu clinic is a no-cost way to decrease the flu’s impact on employees and their families while following CDC guidelines.
Why Use a Mobile Flu Clinic?
It’s more important than ever to get a flu shot this year, but many people are hesitant to risk exposure to COVID-19 at their doctor’s office, walk-in clinic or pharmacy. The CDC recommends an annual flu vaccination for anyone over 6 months of age, particularly those who are at a high risk of flu complications. Flu vaccination is most effective for the duration of flu season when it’s given in September or October.
Flu vaccination has been shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization and death—yet only 45% of adults in the U.S. received a flu shot in 2019. The CDC estimates that the 2019-2020 flu season saw between 410,000-740,000 flu hospitalizations and 24,000-60,000 deaths. This year, nearly 200,000 people in the U.S. have lost their lives to COVID-19, with a total of 6.8 million confirmed cases and climbing. Taking preventive measures against the spread of the flu will be crucial to relieving some of the burden on our healthcare system in the coming months.
Our mobile flu clinic partners with employers to bring socially distant flu shot services on-site in their workplace or in a drive-through setting. Flu vaccination will not only keep your workforce healthier, and therefore more productive, throughout this difficult flu season—it’ll also reduce the strain of a potentially widespread flu outbreak on local healthcare systems, leaving more resources available to fight COVID-19.
How the AdhereRx Mobile Flu Clinic Works
To book an AdhereRx mobile flu clinic at your workplace, all we need is your office’s location—or a location for our drive-through option—and your preferred date and time. Our team will handle the rest of the logistics, and costs are covered by attendees’ health plan, Medicare and/or Medicaid.
AdhereRx’s certified pharmacy team will provide flu shots to your employees and their families (age 10 and up) in a sanitary and socially distanced environment on the day of the event. Participants are encouraged to schedule an appointment to save time and prevent crowding, with a walk-in option available as well.
Our unique drive-through clinic option allows your employees and their families to simply drive up to our mobile clinic location and receive their flu shots with even less contact. All we require is an outdoor area roughly the size of a parking space with a drive-through lane available for your employees and their families.
We know that safety is top of mind, and we are taking every precaution to ensure our mobile flu clinics meet the CDC’s guidelines for safety during COVID-19. We distribute all necessary paperwork via email, so participants can simply arrive and receive their flu shot as quickly as possible on the day of the event.
AdhereRx’s pharmacy team is equipped with masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect your employees and our pharmacy team throughout the event. We do not share equipment communally. We keep as much physical distance as possible, and we sanitize our mobile clinic workspace frequently and thoroughly for everyone’s safety.
